"Needs an Account" here means "Not Nutomatable"

In June, the reporter tested 29 startup directories using a launch tool. Only one directory allowed submission without an account. The reporter retested the directories today, finding that none are verifiably open to automated submissions. Only Fazier, a paid tier service, allows automated submissions at $0.

Two directories, Launching Next and SaaSBird Stunning, required an account in June but now return a 403 to automated requests. Two directories, StartupBase and TinyLaunch, no longer exist. Four directories redirect to a login page after a submission request.

Five directories still return a 404 when requesting the submission page listed in their own documentation: SaaSHub, OpenTools, ProductSeer, ToolFinder, and BetaPage. MicroLaunch now requires a paid tier for submissions, and ToolFinder's submission page is gone. AlternativeTo, GetMoreTools, and AI Tools Directory have changed their statuses.

The only directory confirmed to allow automated submissions is Fazier, which has a basic free tier. However, a 403 status indicates that a script might be blocked, but a human in a browser can still access the site. The reporter did not create 24 accounts to verify this. The audit exists to identify directories that are not automatable, as the lists of directories are snapshots that change over time and are not regularly checked.
