National Air Facilitation Programme to elevate aviation standards

Doha, Qatar - The national strategy for streamlined civil aviation operations in Qatar is entering the implementation phase, aimed at enhancing operational integration and maintaining compliance with global aviation standards. Key representatives from multiple sectors met for a specialized workshop at the Qatar Air Traffic Control Centre to review the final version of the 2026 National Air Transport Facilitation Programme.

The workshop emphasized embedding international regulatory standards, particularly Annex 9 of the Chicago Convention, into Qatar's domestic aviation operations. This Annex focuses on optimizing border-crossing procedures, easing passenger and cargo clearance, and minimizing delays for flight crews, aircraft, and baggage while preserving security measures.

Attendees evaluated legal and regulatory structures, core performance indicators, and strategic implementation plans to track progress and ensure inter-agency readiness. With clear coordination mechanisms, the QCAA intends to strengthen inter-entity collaboration, keeping pace with international best practices as air travel demand grows.
