Mumbai Lake Levels Update: Water Stock Rises To 95.83%, City's 7 Reservoirs Nearly Full

Mumbai's seven reservoirs saw a slight increase in their combined water storage on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with the total reaching 95.83 percent as of 6 am. This is an improvement from 95.72 percent the previous day, according to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department. The reservoirs hold a total of 13,86,958 million litres (ML) of water, which is nearly full compared to their combined useful storage capacity of 14,47,363 ML.

Among the seven lakes, Vehar remained at 100 percent of its useful storage capacity, holding 27,698 ML of water. Modak Sagar was also almost full at 99.99 percent, containing around 1,28,910 ML. Tansa stood at 98.89 percent, with 1,43,181 ML, while Tulsi recorded 98.74 percent, holding 7,944 ML. Middle Vaitarna was at 97 percent, storing 1,87,755 ML, and Bhatsa, Mumbai's largest reservoir, held 6,78,681 ML, or 95.91 percent of its useful storage. Upper Vaitarna had the lowest storage level at 89.76 percent, with 2,03,789 ML.
