Motorola's GrapheneOS phones will launch in 2027 priced higher than Pixels

Motorola has announced its Android 17 update, highlighting several new features. The update includes Live Updates, notification summaries, and Tap to Share, among other typical additions. However, a standout feature is the adoption of Android's themed icons, which Motorola has finally implemented on its devices. Existing Motorola devices, such as the latest Razr foldables, do not support themed icons natively, despite Google offering the feature since Android 12.

The new "Themed icons" section will appear in "Home settings" on Motorola phones with Android 17. Other improvements include stackable widgets, allowing users to combine multiple widgets into a single block on their home screen. Users can also hide labels in Quick Settings when using the Classic style. Live updates enable apps to display real-time data, replacing multiple notifications with a single, continuously updating snippet in the status bar or notifications.

Notifications are now organized to separate personal messages from clutter and automated alerts, using machine learning to bundle lower-priority notifications into quiet folders. HDR content will automatically adjust the display brightness to its highest limits to enhance highlights, with users able to adjust this intensity or turn it off if desired.
