Mohamad Hasan to lead Malaysian delegation at OIC meeting on Palestine

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will lead Malaysia's delegation to the extraordinary OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting tomorrow, focusing on Palestine. Ambassador Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman explained that the one-day meeting aims to maintain previous discussions on coordinating a united stance among member states on the Palestinian issue.

Mohamad will present Malaysia's National Statement, emphasizing support for the Palestinian people's struggle and their right to a sovereign state based on pre-1967 borders. Malaysia's attendance is crucial in conveying the country's stance on Israel's actions against Palestinian territories. The minister will address Israel's military operations in Gaza, the dire humanitarian situation in the West Bank, and the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements.

He hopes the international community, particularly OIC member states, will take more concrete measures to safeguard Palestinian rights. Syed Bakri, also Malaysia's Permanent Representative to the OIC, reiterated Malaysia's commitment to aiding Palestinians affected by the conflict, ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those in need.

The meeting aims to coordinate positions and discuss joint action in response to ongoing developments in Palestine. Topics will include the election of the OIC secretary-general and the adoption of a resolution on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, condemning Israel's aggression and encouraging joint action by OIC member states. Mohamad is also expected to meet with his counterparts from several countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation, exploring new opportunities in trade and investment.
