Minerals Commission commissions astro turf sports complex at Kenyasi

The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Dr. Yussif Sulemana, has officially opened an astro turf sports complex at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region. Funded by the Minerals Commission, the facility boasts dressing rooms, floodlights, a car park, and a VIP stand. Speaking to local leaders, staff from the Minerals Commission, Newmont Ahafo South Mine, Asutifi North District Assembly employees, security personnel, youth groups, and residents, Dr. Sulemana expressed satisfaction that the facility was requested by the community to foster the growth of sporting talents in the area.

He pointed out that the completion of this project, which began under the previous administration, demonstrates the current government's commitment to completing unfinished projects and ensuring value for money.

Isaac Andrews Tandoh, CEO of the Minerals Commission, emphasized the organization's dedication to providing communities with deserving facilities to enhance residents' lives. The Minister for Ahafo Region, Charity Gardiner, thanked the Minerals Commission and the government for the facility, which will play a significant role in developing sporting talents nationwide.

She also highlighted the versatility of the facility, noting that it can be utilized for social gatherings. The Saamanhene of Kenyasi No1, Nana Anim Dankwah, who addressed the event on behalf of the Paramount Chief, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, expressed gratitude to the Minerals Commission and Newmont Gold Ghana for creating job opportunities for the youth and alleviating unemployment.

He assured that the chiefs within the five mining communities where Newmont operates will work diligently to maintain the sports complex for its intended purpose.
