Merdeka memories still feel fresh for these Ipoh seniors

At Halaman Suri Sejahtera in Ipoh, National Day-themed activities for senior citizens proved to be a delightful mix of reminiscing and celebration. The familiar sight of the national flag and patriotic songs stirred old memories for participants like Bhajan Singh, who was reminded of his own childhood experiences. For Jaharah Hashim, the activities provided an enjoyable way to socialize and keep mentally active.

Retired teacher P Asokan emphasized the significance of seeing Malaysians from various ethnic backgrounds join together in the spirit of Merdeka. Hands-on activities such as batik painting and flag-making kept participants engaged while adding a creative element to the events. Programme coordinator Nur Hayatulasna Mohamed Fishal hoped the modest celebration would strengthen bonds among participants and infuse the centre's National Month celebrations with more festive cheer.
