Medak among key clusters under Centre’s energy efficiency initiative
The Assistance for Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries and Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme, led by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, has garnered over 1,070 Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country for Investment Grade Energy Audits (IGEAs).
Consequently, 203 Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have been finalized, encompassing projects valued at ₹985.83 crore. The scheme aims to assist MSMEs in adopting energy-efficient technologies, thereby reducing operational expenses, boosting productivity, and enhancing global competitiveness. Out of the 103 projects that have received credit sanctions, a sum of ₹707.54 crore has been allocated, with ₹212.58 crore earmarked for micro and small enterprises, and ₹501.05 crore for medium enterprises.
Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, CEO of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), disclosed these figures on Wednesday. At a recent interaction with industry leaders and stakeholders, BEE Director General Krushna Chandra Panigrahy underscored the necessity for enhanced coordination among State Designated Agencies (SDAs), industry entities, financial institutions, and energy auditors.
EESL has established a dedicated cell to streamline the implementation of the scheme by simplifying DPR preparation and credit appraisal procedures. The ADEETIE scheme, initiated by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, is presently operational in 60 industrial clusters spanning 14 energy-intensive sectors. Medak district has been selected as one of the focus clusters, as per a press release.
