Mast Project: New Juaben South MCE Calls For Calm

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, has called for calm over plans to build a telecommunications mast at the Koforidua-Kumasi Lorry Station. The MCE explained that the location was chosen based on technical assessments conducted by engineers from African Towers Company. The station was selected as it was the only location within the municipality that could receive a strong signal required for the project.

The proposed mast aims to enhance mobile network coverage, internet connectivity, and overall telecommunications services in Koforidua and surrounding communities. Despite the technical reasoning behind the location, some drivers and traders at the lorry station have raised concerns about the suitability of installing such infrastructure at a busy transport and commercial center.

The MCE addressed these concerns at a media briefing, stating that the decision was primarily based on technical requirements and that engineers found the Kumasi station to be the only suitable location among several assessed. He urged concerned stakeholders to engage the Municipal Assembly and the project developers to address their concerns.

The project has received approval from the Ministry of Communication and the Environmental Protection Agency, with no identified environmental or health risks. The MCE emphasized the importance of reliable connectivity for businesses, financial institutions, schools, and residents, stating that improved network infrastructure would benefit the entire municipality.

He called for dialogue and cooperation over confrontation, promising continued engagement between stakeholders, the Assembly, and project developers.
