Malaysia strike historic bronze at Para Hockey World Cup

In a historic victory at the inaugural 2026 Para ID Hockey World Cup held in Belgium and the Netherlands, Malaysia's Para ID hockey team clinched the bronze medal. The national team achieved this milestone by defeating the hosts Belgium 3-1 in the third-place playoff match at Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. According to Malaysia's assistant head of delegation R. Shanker, this bronze medal is not only a victory but a historic moment that demonstrates the team's ability to compete with the world's best.

Shanker praised the players, coaches, and officials for their hard work and commitment throughout the tournament, as well as the support from families, management, sponsors, and fans. He believes this achievement will serve as a springboard for the national Para ID hockey program to grow further and provide more athletes in the category with opportunities to develop and compete internationally.
