Kluang used car dealer claims trial over illegal possession of Smith & Wesson pistol

Kluang's used car dealer, How Han Wei, appeared before the Sessions Court on August 26, not guilty of firearm possession without a valid license. The 33-year-old faced charges for allegedly carrying a Smith & Wesson pistol at a house on Jalan Indah 2/10, Taman Kluang Indah, on August 6. Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 was cited, which imposes up to 14 years in prison and a minimum of six strokes of the cane if the defendant is found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nurfara Fazilun Izylin Ahmad argued the case, while How was represented by lawyer Yvonne Kee. No bail was granted due to the non-bailable nature of the offense, and the court scheduled a mention for September 28 to submit further documents. Previously, How was charged with murder alongside three others at Batu Pahat Magistrate's Court on August 17, following the discovery of a 39-year-old man's body in Sungai Tanjung Sembrong, Parit Raja.

The victim was reportedly strangled with a rope before being transported in a vehicle, with his hands bound by adhesive tape and his body encased in a net. The victim was reported missing by his wife on July 29; his family found his vehicle in Johor Bahru after the discovery.
