Japan’s ‘Rabbit Island’ Deals with Rising Boar Population as Overfeeding Affects Island’s Ecosystem
TAKEHARA, Hiroshima — Excessive feeding of rabbits by tourists is causing disruption to the ecosystem of Okunoshima Island in Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture. The island is also known as “Rabbit Island” because it is home to at least 500 rabbits.
