‘It was Aisha Yesufu that called Tinubu illegitimate President, not me’ – Daniel Bwala

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Policy Communication to the President, has refuted previous claims that he referred to Bola Tinubu as an illegitimate President. In an interview on KAA TRUTHS podcast, Bwala attributed the description solely to Aisha Yesufu, an activist and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Bwala stated that Aisha's persistent view of Tinubu as illegitimate stemmed from her lack of understanding of the law.

He claimed that no member of the opposition, including Kenneth Okonkwo, had ever made such a comment. Bwala emphasized that if Tinubu had won a flawed election that reached the Supreme Court, whose decision was final in all authorities, Nigerians should have backed away from calling him illegitimate. When asked if he had made such a comment in the past, Bwala insisted that he "never called the President illegitimate" and challenged anyone to provide evidence to the contrary.
