Investigation underway after police shoot and kill a man outside a home in Pennsylvania

An investigation is underway in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, following the fatal shooting of a man by police during a possible home break-in response. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Upper Pottsgrove Township, roughly 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Police received a 911 call about a potential break-in attempt.

Upon arrival, they found Glenwood Pysher IV at the rear of the residence and subsequently shot and killed him, according to the Montgomery County district attorney's office. The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is leading the investigation into the shooting. Upper Pottsgrove Township Police Chief Al Werner did not provide any additional details, including the officer's identity, until the investigation is concluded.
