Insecurity: ‘Enemies within govt, elite ranks’ – Rufai

Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has accused Nigeria's government and elite class of being involved in the country's ongoing insecurity. On Wednesday's 'Morning Show' on Arise Television, Rufai argued that the government's complicity, rather than a lack of resources, is the root cause of the nation's struggle against kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism.

Rufai stated that increased security presence or state police will not resolve the issue if officials and state actors are collaborating with criminals. He cited the Woro attack in Kwara State, where bandits killed innocent Nigerians after residents alerted security authorities. Rufai also pointed out instances where state governments had participated in photo opportunities with bandits, suggesting that high-ranking officials are involved in these criminal activities.

Rufai emphasized that Nigeria is not ready to end insecurity and that complicity within the ecosystem is preventing progress. He questioned why Nigerians are being deceived when the truth is alarming, citing the example of the Woro residents who informed security authorities but were later attacked by bandits.
