Infantino has no future at Fifa, says European Leagues chief

European Leagues President Claudius Schaefer has declared that Gianni Infantino cannot have a future at Fifa, amid a growing conflict among governing bodies. In an interview, Schaefer highlighted the need for reforming world soccer's governing body and expressed concerns over Infantino's leadership. He alleged that major decisions at Fifa are made without sufficient consultation with stakeholders, and pointed to issues such as the President's growing influence and the controversial inaugural Fifa peace prize awarded to US President Donald Trump.

Additionally, Schaefer criticized Fifa for overturning a ban on American forward Folarin Balogun during this year's World Cup following a call from Trump. Schaefer also mentioned a potential vote of no confidence against Infantino from three confederations - Europe's Uefa, Asia's AFC, and Concacaf. He emphasized the importance of redefining the role of the Fifa president over simply changing the person in the position for the reforms to take effect.

Infantino is seeking re-election for a fourth term next year and is likely to face opposition, but Schaefer believes that the most crucial task is to bring about these much-needed changes.
