In contrast, the GR86 sticks to the classic formula of rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission (or automatic for an additional $2,900), and a low price tag.

Edmunds' experts found that the GR86's 228-horsepower four-cylinder engine delivers adequate power for highway entrance ramps and corner exits, while the Prelude's 200-horsepower hybrid system struggles to match the GR86's acceleration, taking 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph compared to the GR86's 6.0 seconds. The GR86's manual transmission offers a more engaging driving experience, while the Prelude's hybrid system remains smooth and efficient for city traffic.

Both cars feature excellent steering feel and balance, with the GR86 earning praise for its steering and the Prelude excelling in front-wheel-drive handling grip. The Prelude's cabin is more comfortable, with better materials and a user-friendly infotainment system, while the GR86's cabin is noisier and its infotainment system feels outdated.

However, the GR86's trunk is significantly smaller, holding just 6.3 cubic feet compared to the Prelude's 15.1 cubic feet, making the Prelude the better choice for daily use and road trips.
