# HackAVP: Hackathon for Employment in the Public Sector in NCL

A new hackathon, HackAVP, has been launched in New Caledonia to address challenges in accessing employment information within the public sector. The event aims to make job vacancies more understandable and accessible, and to leverage the data in innovative ways.

The hackathon will take place over seven weeks, starting with a kickoff event on Wednesday, 26 August, at 17:00 at the Station N. No prior registration or formalities are required, as teams will form on-site. The hackathon organizers, the OPT-NC, the Station N, and the Data & IA Commission of the OPEN NC cluster, invite developers, students, designers, HR professionals, and data experts to participate for free.

The challenge focuses on making job vacancies more accessible, and the projects created during the hackathon will make the OPT-NC's recruitment process more readable and inclusive. The organizers encourage diverse teams, representing seven families of jobs, including telecommunications, IT systems, postal services, banking, finance, and support functions for employers.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, 4 November, during a live demo at TECH N CO, a French Tech NC and OPEN NC salon. Participants will have the opportunity to network with 1,200 employees from the OPT-NC, and gain visibility within the digital ecosystem in New Caledonia. The hackathon emphasizes the importance of public data and open innovation, as well as the benefits of learning through collaboration and competing with diverse skill sets.
