Govt targets to end triple threat by 2027, First Lady says

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto announced the government's commitment to eradicate the Triple Threat of HIV, adolescent pregnancy, and sexual and gender-based violence by 2027. In a mentorship and advocacy engagement with adolescents and young people in Homa Bay, she appealed to parents, health workers, chiefs, religious leaders, and community leaders to establish safe spaces and provide youth-friendly services.

So far, over 220 health facilities in four counties have joined the initiative, and more than 200 healthcare providers have been trained to offer adolescent-friendly services. The First Lady emphasized that addressing the Triple Threat must be a top priority, as it is a national issue. Homa Bay, one of the highest HIV-burdened counties, has a 11.6% prevalence rate, and adolescent pregnancy is a significant concern.

Through collective effort and dedication, the government aims to empower young people to achieve their future dreams.
