Former England star Sterling charged with dangerous driving and nitrous oxide possession after Lamborghini crash

Former England footballer Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide following a crash involving a Lamborghini on the M3 motorway, according to police sources. The charges stem from a single-vehicle collision that occurred on May 28 near the Minley interchange on the southbound M3. The 31-year-old is also accused of failing to provide a specimen.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no injuries were reported. Sterling is scheduled to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on September 15. Throughout his career, Sterling has made 20 goals in 82 appearances for England, contributing to their success in the 2018 World Cup and the 2020 Euro final. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Sterling began his career at Queens Park Rangers before joining Liverpool, where he made his senior debut.

He then moved to Manchester City in 2015, winning multiple titles including the Premier League, League Cups, and the FA Cup. Sterling spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Arsenal before leaving Stamford Bridge. He is currently without a club. In 2021, Sterling received an MBE for his services to racial equality in sport, acknowledging his advocacy for anti-racism and discrimination campaigns.
