FCT Police denies confirming youths in Mararaba, Nyanya, Karu, others sold kidneys

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has refuted claims circulating online that it had stated young residents of Mararaba, Nyanya, Karu, and other areas within the FCT had sold their kidneys to organ traffickers. A Facebook user named Labran Abu Labco had posted a message alleging that the police had confirmed the widespread kidney selling among young people in those communities, adding that a Mararaba-based individual was buying human kidneys.

Responding to the claims, the FCT Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that it neither received nor confirmed any such reports. The spokesperson emphasized that "no statement or communication to that effect has emanated from the Command." The statement cautioned the public to disregard the circulating publication and not share unverified information that could cause unnecessary fear, panic, and apprehension among residents.

The FCT Police Command, however, encouraged anyone with information about alleged human organ trafficking or other security concerns in the FCT to immediately report the matter to the nearest police station.
