Father, 9-year-old son found dead hugging in house fire

In a tragic event, a 40-year-old man and his 9-year-old son were discovered deceased in a tight embrace following a house fire at Kampung Tok Jembal. The victims were identified as Amirulfahmi Wan Jusoh and his son, Rehan Yusuf. The fire ignited at around 4am, trapping the pair on the upper floor of the two-story residence.

Amirulfahmi, the fourth of eight siblings, was employed in advertising, specializing in photography and videography at a restaurant in Kuala Terengganu. He had returned to his mother's house with his 9-year-old son, Rehan, who was fondly known as Rehan. Prior to that, Amirulfahmi had been visiting his in-laws in Kampung Paloh, Kuala Terengganu, to assist his wife, Nur Izzah Ahmad, who had recently completed her confinement period.

Witness Wan Azrin Wan Awang recounted rushing to the house after hearing his wife scream about a fire. Upon arrival, he found the occupants unresponsive and had to forcibly enter the locked door. A neighbor's child eventually rescued the woman and retrieved a motorcycle to pull her out. However, two more victims, the woman's son and grandson, were reportedly still upstairs. Despite repeated attempts, the witnesses were unable to reach them as the fire intensified and spread rapidly through the house.

Amirulfahmi, who was described fondly as Uda by his brother-in-law, Nik Mohd Zaim Nik Abdul Rahim, was a dedicated professional in the advertising industry. He had returned to his mother's house with his son, Rehan, to care for their ailing mother, Maimunah Muda, who was 67 years old.
