Ex-Nigeria squash No.1 Olubo completes transcontinental adventure

Nigerian squash star Moses Olubo, once ranked No. 1 in his country, is set to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday after completing a remarkable transcontinental journey by motorcycle. His adventure, which spanned from the United States through Canada, Iceland, Scandinavia and Western Europe, led him across the Sahara Desert and up the Fouta Jallon Highlands before reaching Nigeria.

Olubo is expected to be greeted like a hero at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, where a meet-and-greet is scheduled for 2pm. Organizers have dubbed him a "3-Continent Adventurer," underscoring the ingenuity and perseverance required to undertake such an extensive expedition. Due to the motorcycle not being registered under the ECOWAS system, his arrival in Nigeria has been somewhat unpredictable, with delays encountered during his passage through Ghana.

However, as of Tuesday, the final stretch to Lagos is anticipated to be relatively smooth. The journey has garnered significant attention from Olubo's friends and sports enthusiasts, who are urging Nigerians, especially those involved in sports, to attend the stadium and celebrate the former squash No. 1 with a memorable welcome.
