Dolly Parton: US lowers flags for one week

Country music icon Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80, reports confirm. Her nephew Bryan Seaver announced her death on Instagram, describing it as a "true loss for millions of people." In honor of Parton, President Donald Trump ordered flags across the United States to be lowered for one week starting that evening at 6:00 PM.

Parton, born on January 19, 1946, rose from a humble background in Tennessee to become one of country music's most celebrated singer-songwriters. She sold over 100 million records worldwide and was known as the "Queen of Country," with hits like "Jolene," "9 to 5," and "I Will Always Love You." Parton wrote more than 3,000 songs and won 11 Grammy Awards.

She also had a successful acting career, appearing in films such as "9 to 5," "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," "Steel Magnolias," and "Joyful Noise."
