Customs arrest two over illegal storage warehouse

Customs officers in Sheung Shui made an arrest on Wednesday, seizing an illegal storage warehouse suspected of containing controlled pharmaceutical products. Among the 400,000 items seized, a majority were virility-enhancing products, with an estimated market value of HK$11 million. The investigation, led by Woo Suet-yi from the Syndicate Crimes Investigation Bureau, also uncovered packaging tools and numerous paper boxes, believed to be used for storage and transportation.

The seized items are likely originating from South Asia, though the exact regions are still under investigation. Woo stated that the majority of the products had been intercepted at their source, preventing them from entering the market. The packaging indicated that the pills contained Part 1 poisons, requiring strict regulations for import, export, and storage.

Chan Hon-wah, a senior pharmacist from the Department of Health, cautioned the public about potential health risks associated with purchasing drugs from unknown or illegal sources. Only prescription drugs can be taken under a doctor's supervision, he emphasized.
