Cop hurt in firearm mishap while on duty in Lahad Datu

A marine policeman sustained injuries following a firearm mishap while on duty in Lahad Datu on Tuesday. The injured party, identified as a lance corporal, sustained injuries to his left hand and abdomen. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulbaharin Ismail reported the incident on the same day, noting that the victim was shot while another officer was unloading a firearm at the scene.

The victim received preliminary medical attention at Lahad Datu Hospital and was subsequently transferred to Tawau Hospital. His condition is reported to be stable, and he continues to receive medical care and monitoring at the hospital. The case is under investigation pursuant to Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960, which pertains to the offense of discharging a firearm and causing injury to another person.
