CD Projekt RED to launch remastered version of 'The Witcher 3' ahead of new expansion

Polish game developer CD Projekt RED has announced an upcoming expansion for their popular game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, called Songs of the Past. However, this new installment will not feature Russian voice acting. The audio for the game will default to Polish, but the text will remain fully translated from English, as it has been in previous games.

The decision to omit Russian voice acting was made by CD Projekt RED in March 2022, when they stopped working with tax residents from Russia and Belarus. This announcement sparked a significant amount of discussion among Russian fans of the game, with the official announcement post receiving over 2,000 comments on its Russian-language Telegram community page.

The expansion, set to be released in 2027, will feature the protagonist Geralt of Rivia traveling to a new region called Letten, where he will encounter his friend Dandelion. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a highly acclaimed game series, with the latest installment launched in 2015. Earlier this month, CD Projekt RED also announced plans for a new game, The Witcher 4, which is set to release in 2028.
