Canadian national team defender Bombito set for second surgery on left tibia

Canadian national team defender Moïse Bombito is set to undergo his second surgery on his left tibia, according to his club Nice. The 26-year-old centre back has been dealing with chronic pain, which prompted a scan and led to the decision for surgery. Bombito initially fractured his tibia in October but returned in time to play for Canada at the FIFA World Cup, held in his home country.

Despite playing well in three of Canada's five games, including a full match in the round-of-16 loss to Morocco, Bombito was still struggling and in pain. He initially refused surgery but agreed to the procedure after discussion with his coaching and medical staff.
