Busy Philipps Reveals She Had a Rare Brain Tumor Removed, Underwent Two Surgeries: “I’m Grateful That I’m Alive”

Actress Busy Philipps expressed gratitude for surviving a six-month battle with a brain tumor. In an interview with People, she described the experience as "the weirdest six months of my life." The tumor, a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, was discovered after she underwent a Prenuvo MRI scan at the urging of a friend. Despite her doctors' recommendation against the scan due to her young age and lack of symptoms, Philipps felt compelled to proceed.

A day after the scan, she was scheduled to meet with the creators of her upcoming role in "Cupertino." Her ex-husband convinced her to go through with the scan, which ultimately led to the detection of the tumor. In March, she underwent successful surgery to remove the 2.6-centimeter tumor, leaving her with 40 stitches and minor swelling.

However, a subsequent infection, discovered during a Botox appointment, required additional debridement surgery. Despite this setback, Philipps remains focused on her role as Natalia Boutella in "Cupertino," set to premiere on CBS on October 8.
