Bannu police peace body protests personnel’s transfer

Bannu witnessed a significant response from both the Police Peace Committee and police personnel after seven Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police constables were transferred to other districts on Tuesday. The Police Peace Committee's president, Hazratullah, urged his colleagues to protest by registering their dissent at police stations and abstaining from their duties, causing disruptions to police services and traffic systems in several areas.

The transfers were initiated by the Central Police Office in Peshawar, following orders from the Assistant Inspector General Establishment. Head constable Nisar Ali (535) was moved from Police Lines Lower Dir to PTS Swat, while constable Ghulam Abbas Khan shifted from Elite Force Peshawar to Haripur, and constable Muhammad Arif from Elite Force Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan.

Constable Shafiullah from Investigation Bannu was relocated to Swat, and constable Muhammad Atif Khan from Elite Force Bannu to Upper Chitral. Constable Samiullah from Lakki Marwat was reassigned to CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and constable Khalid Rahman from District Traffic Mobile Lakki Marwat was moved to Shangla. Hazratullah claimed that the transfers were aimed at undermining the Police Peace Committee, but vowed to continue the protest and boycott until the transfers were reversed.

He emphasized that the committee had played a vital role in combating terrorism and their departure could affect ongoing anti-terrorism efforts. The boycott of duties has reportedly impacted police security in sensitive locations, causing traffic congestion and increased travel times for commuters. Police personnel have called for a review of the transfer orders and reassurance that their concerns will be addressed.

However, no official response has been issued by the police authorities on the matter as of August 26th, 2026.
