Banjir kilat di Nepal, 17 rakyat Malaysia antara ratusan hilang

Heavy rains triggered by a sudden Koshi River flood swept away villages and destroyed roads, buildings and hydroelectric projects in Nepal's Rasuwagadhi-Timure region, according to Nepal's Tourism Board. At least 17 Malaysian nationals among hundreds of foreign nationals reported missing in the flash floods prompted by the deluge in Rasuwa, Nepal on Wednesday morning, the Tourism Board announced.

The agency stated that the travel matters of Malaysian nationals missing in the incident were being handled by Fishtail Tours and Travels. At least 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepalis were unreachable, while police and tourism officials were trying to locate them, according to the latest update from the organization late in the day.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement earlier, confirmed that 11 Malaysian nationals believed to be in Rasuwa were reported missing in the flash flood incident. The ministry informed that the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu was working closely with local authorities. "The search and rescue team currently mobilized by the Nepali government is working to locate the Malaysian victims and ensure their safety," the ministry said.

Other foreigners missing include 142 Indians, with 37 of them residing abroad, as well as nationals from Britain, South Africa, and the United States.
