Bandits kill Niger monarch, sibling of Tinubu’s agriculture minister

Suspected bandits allegedly executed the Village Head of Galla in Niger State's Borgu Emirate following an attack on his palace. The tragedy unfolded on Monday, August 24, 2026. Local sources claim the monarch faced his demise after cautioning the bandits to stay clear of his community, which the assailants misconstrued as an affront.

Consequently, they launched an assault on the traditional ruler's palace. The deceased, it is reported, is the sibling of Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the State's Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security. When approached for further information, Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, assured that he would provide additional details.
