Bandar Utama school murder trial: Defence closes case after boy testifies

The defence in the murder trial of a 15-year-old boy accused of killing a female student at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, concluded its case today after all witnesses, including the accused, had finished their testimony. Judge Adlin Abdul Majid instructed the prosecution and defence to submit their replies to the court on September 3, with oral arguments set for September 8.

Defence lawyer Kitson Foong stated that the defence had wrapped up its case after two witnesses, including the accused, testified. The teenager is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which imposes the death penalty, but due to his age, he falls under the provisions of the Child Act 2001. The prosecution, led by Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin, Aqharie Durranie Aziz, and Ahmad Iqbal Azman, is seeking to transfer the case to the Shah Alam High Court after a psychiatrist report confirmed the teenager was fit to stand trial.

The defence also revealed that the victim was a 16-year-old girl who was killed in a girls’ toilet at the school between 9.20 am and 9.35 am on October 14, 2025. The accused, whose identity is protected due to his juvenile status, pleaded not guilty on February 12, 2025, after initially being charged in the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court on October 22, 2025.
