Ayutthaya woman admits to faking attempted rape story for attention

In Ayutthaya, a woman confessed on August 26 that she fabricated a story of being abducted and sexually assaulted by two men to gain attention from her family. The incident reportedly occurred on August 21. A Thai man reported a threat from two suspects claiming they would rape his 28-year-old girlfriend. He received the message via her phone and a photo of her tied up.

He attempted to contact his girlfriend but she did not respond. The suspects subsequently sent him the incident's location, leading him to file a police complaint. Upon reaching the scene, he found his girlfriend abandoned on the roadside and took her to safety. The woman claimed two men on a motorcycle had followed her while she was commuting to work in Sena district, threatened her with a knife, and forced her into their vehicle to an isolated area.

They tied her hands and feet and attempted to strip her, but stopped when they heard someone approaching. The men then targeted her belongings, stealing about 2,000 baht in cash and her mobile phone. They coerced her into divulging her passcode and used it to send threatening messages and images of her to her boyfriend, along with her location.

The woman later admitted during questioning that she invented the entire ordeal. She admitted to fabricating the story due to family issues and a desire for more love and attention, testing her family and boyfriend to see if they would be concerned. The police noted that the woman was in a poor mental state. Her boyfriend informed the police of no knowledge or involvement in the fabricated incident.

Authorities are now investigating whether her actions could constitute making a false report, potentially leading to further legal action.
