The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) has teamed up with Saint Francis University (SFU) to boost research and development of AI-enabled biomaterials and digital health technologies. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by ASTRI's CEO, Ir Dr Ted Suen, and SFU's President, Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung.
The collaboration aims to accelerate innovation, facilitate technology transfer, and nurture talent in applied sciences. ASTRI and SFU will work together in joint research and development, technology transfer and commercialization, and talent development. The joint R&D efforts will focus on creating AI-driven biomaterial design platforms, nano-biomaterial-based diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, AI-powered digital health solutions, and more.
The two institutions will also explore commercialization pathways and offer student internship and attachment programs to foster knowledge exchange between academia, industry, and the public sector.
