Argentina confirms Davis Cup team for Türkiye match

Argentina has officially announced its Davis Cup team for the upcoming match against Türkiye, set to take place on September 19 and 20 in Neuquén. Captain Javier Frana revealed the six players who will represent Argentina in this World Group I tie: Francisco Cerúndolo, Thiago Tirante, Mariano Navone, Guido Andreozzi, and Andrés Molteni. This will be the first Davis Cup tournament held in Patagonia, a region of Argentina known for its rugged landscapes and unique charm.

Cerúndolo, the team's top singles player, is considered the most notable presence among the roster. The 25-year-old Argentine, currently ranked No. 25 in the ATP rankings, has claimed two major titles in 2026, including the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires and the ATP 500 at Queen’s. His most recent Davis Cup appearance was in November of last year, when he lost to Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals of the Bologna Finals.

Thiago Tirante, ranked No. 42 in the ATP, has experienced a remarkable season. He recently secured victories over Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz, two of the world's top-ranked players. Mariano Navone, currently ranked No. 48, made his Davis Cup debut earlier this year, winning his first ATP title in Bucharest. Guido Andreozzi, ranked 15th in doubles, and Andrés Molteni, ranked 61st in doubles, round out the team.

Both players are doubles specialists, with Andreozzi winning the Indian Wells Masters 1000 this year and Molteni participating in ten Davis Cup series.

Notably, world No. 3 doubles player Horacio Zeballos will not be part of the team, cited by Frana as being due to "personal matters and an immigration process." The tournament will be held at the Ruca Che Stadium, a specially installed indoor court designed for the occasion. Argentina's return to the 2027 qualifiers, the stage leading up to the Davis Cup finals, hinges on a victory against Türkiye, who recently advanced to World Group I after defeating Slovenia 3-1 on the road.
