Apple has filed a response to OpenAI's request for expedited discovery in its ongoing trade secret lawsuit. Apple seeks early production of documents, forensic imaging of devices and accounts, and depositions of key witnesses. The goal is to uncover dissolving facts and determine the full extent of Apple's proprietary information and trade secrets misappropriated.

Apple's motion follows a request for a preliminary injunction to prevent OpenAI and its defendants from accessing and using Apple's alleged trade secrets while the case proceeds. OpenAI argued that the expedited discovery request was unnecessary because regular discovery would overlap with Apple's proposed timeline. Apple maintains that its requests are not overbroad and are aimed at obtaining substantive responses to its claims, not gaining an unfair advantage. The hearing is set for October 1 at the discretion of Judge Edward Davila.
