Akers Nscale har signert kontrakt om AI-datasenter verdt 45 milliarder dollar

Aker announced that Nscale, a subsidiary of Aker, has signed a contract to provide AI computing capacity at their Monarch project in the United States. The total value of the deal is 45 billion dollars, equivalent to 421 billion Norwegian krone based on current exchange rates. Aker's communication director, Atle Kigen, stated that they have no further information about the identity of the customer.

Nscale is the second largest shareholder in Aker's portfolio after Aker BP. In the first quarter of the year, Nscale was the main driver in Aker's value crossing the 100-billion-dollar threshold for the first time. By the end of the second quarter, Aker's stake in Nscale was valued at 32.1 billion kroner, representing 23% of the company.

Recently, discussions have been held regarding whether Nscale should go public. Aker CEO Øyvind Eriksen mentioned that a possible stock offering would be up to Nscale's board of directors. If the board decides to proceed, Aker would support the decision, as Eriksen himself is a shareholder in Nscale's board of directors. Nscale has begun construction of two data centers in Norway - one in Glomsfjord and another in Narvik.

The investment for the Narvik data center is approximately 100 billion kroner, making it the largest domestic investment in Norway in history. Stian Jenssen, Scandinavia head of Nscale, told E24 that it is the largest inland investment Norway has seen.
