Adrienne Haan brings Parisian cabaret to Cape Town's new Music and Art Series

Signature Art Gallery, owned by Craig Morris, is launching a new cultural initiative called "The Music and Art Series" to offer Cape Town audiences a unique creative experience. This series aims to blend various forms of artistic expression, including visual art, music, theatre, food, and wine, into immersive events. The inaugural production, "Paris Nights – Les nuits de Paris," showcases internationally renowned New York cabaret artist Adrienne Haan, who will guide attendees on a romantic musical journey through the city of love.

Cabaret, an art form with a long and storied history, captivates audiences with its intimate and personal nature. Haan, an artist who also tells captivating stories, chose cabaret as her medium because it allows her to connect with her audience on a deeper level. The Signature Art Gallery is the ideal venue for Haan's unique interpretation of French cabaret, as it features inspiring sculptures and paintings by South Africa's most talented artists.

Morris and Haan envision "Paris Nights" as the ultimate experience for the audience, with Adrienne Haan performing alongside South African pianist Cornel Engelbrecht. The evening will feature music from iconic French artists such as Édith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, and Jacques Brel. Haan emphasizes that she is not attempting to imitate other performers but rather to honor the original artists while presenting her own unique storytelling through music and personal artistic journey.

In addition to the music, "Paris Nights" will offer an interactive and engaging experience for attendees. Haan incorporates humor, flirtation, and direct communication with the audience, making the event different from traditional concerts or theater performances. By combining visual arts, fine arts, performing arts, and culinary arts, the initiative aims to stimulate all five senses: visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory, and olfactory.

Haan is excited to bring the Parisian experience to Cape Town, noting the similarities between French cabaret and African storytelling traditions.
