ADC chieftain urges Wike to caution Kuje council chair over remarks

Okai Austin, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress and human rights activist, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to intervene and caution Kuje Area Council Chairman Samuel Shekwolo over divisive remarks that could escalate political tensions. The call came after a viral video surfaced, allegedly showing Shekwolo threatening to track down and attack social media critics, as well as warning residents to leave the area council if they do not support the ruling APC.

Okai described Shekwolo's comments as "uncalled for" and highly dangerous, warning that they could trigger violence if not addressed promptly. He urged Shekwolo to promote peace, tolerance, and inclusiveness among residents, regardless of their political affiliations. Okai emphasized that public officials, especially those in local government leadership, must avoid creating divisions within their communities.

He also appealed to relevant authorities to review Shekwolo's comments and ensure that elected and appointed officials uphold peaceful coexistence and refrain from undermining it with their words or actions.
