5 useless Android apps you probably still download (and why you should stop)

Many Android users still download useless third-party apps, despite the operating system's advanced features and built-in applications. Document scanning and copying text from images or real-world objects are no longer necessary with third-party apps, as the stock camera app in Android 14 and later can handle these tasks. To scan a document, open the Camera app and point it at the document; it will automatically detect it and provide a Scan button.

For text extraction, open the Camera app, tap the T button, and process the object to display the text. QR code scanning is now native in Android 13, accessible through the Camera app or Quick Settings toggle. Customizing the clipboard history is now possible without third-party apps; enable it in the keyboard settings to access copied items.

Android phones also have a built-in blue light filter, named Night Light by Google and Eye Comfort by Samsung and OnePlus. Access it in the Settings app under Display options and schedule it to automatically toggle during bedtime. Lastly, caller identification apps like Truecaller help recognize incoming calls, allowing users to decide whether to answer or not.
