The ministry will provide 2 billion yen to 40 local governments that have already been selected, and 1 billion yen to 10 new local governments that will be selected through applications and reviews. The financial support is aimed at supporting local governments that are actively promoting reforms, such as reducing the number of hours teachers spend on tasks outside of class. The ministry has been providing financial support for this purpose since 2019. In the future, the ministry plans to continue providing support while evaluating the effects of the measures implemented by local governments.
