Two women have been arrested in Hong Kong following a fight at a shopping centre in Kwun Tong, after a five-year-old girl was slapped and pushed to the ground by an elderly woman. The incident occurred at the atrium of the APM shopping centre around 4.45pm on Wednesday as a group of parents and young children watched a play area.
The 68-year-old grandmother was visiting with her 34-year-old daughter and grandson when a dispute arose between the boy and a five-year-old girl over use of the installation. The video shows the elderly woman shoving the younger girl and then slapping her, causing her to fall. Another woman then approached the first to confront her, striking her as well.
At one point in the footage, the boy's mother can be heard saying, "You can't leave." Two men also intervened during the altercation, with one confronting the grandmother and accusing her of hitting a child. The police arrived at the scene and arrested the older woman and the girl's mother on suspicion of assault or causing actual bodily harm.
The girl and the two other women involved were taken to United Christian Hospital for treatment of minor facial injuries. The Kwun Tong district investigation team of the police force is handling the case.
