Zamfara advocates victims support fund for banditry victims, as key to peace-building

Operation FANSAN YAMMA forces rescued six kidnapped individuals and apprehended three suspected gun runners in Zamfara State. According to a statement shared on X by security analyst Bakatsine, these operations took place on Sunday across various locations in the state as troops ramped up their efforts against armed criminal groups.

During one operation, troops stopped a vehicle on the Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi Road and arrested three individuals suspected of being gun runners. Upon searching the vehicle, security personnel found an AK-103-2 rifle, a magazine, and 30 rounds of ammunition hidden inside a bag of millet. The weapons were reportedly intended for transport to Yar-Galadima in Maru Local Government Area, as indicated by Bakatsine.

In a separate incident, troops responded to an attack on motorists along the Anka-Gummi Road when armed men attempted to abduct travelers. The troops engaged the attackers as they sought to take six victims into the forest. During the confrontation, the armed men fled, leaving all six victims behind. Three of the rescued victims sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.
