Yash’s Toxic storms towards Rs 50 crore in advance sales

Dubai: Yash's eagerly awaited film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is poised for a blockbuster theatrical launch, with advance ticket sales climbing toward the Rs 50 crore milestone prior to its global release on August 26. Recent tracking data indicates the action thriller has amassed approximately Rs 41 crore in pre-sales as of August 25, with an additional Rs 45.13 crore, accounting for blocked seats.

Over 10 lakh tickets have reportedly been procured across more than 20,000 screenings, underscoring the fervor surrounding Yash's cinematic return. Karnataka emerges as a key market for the film, accounting for around Rs 17.31 crore in advance sales, with Bengaluru alone contributing an estimated Rs 10.67 crore, bolstered by numerous shows boasting high attendance.

The Hindi-language version has also shown promising traction, surpassing Rs 15 crore in advance sales from standard showings, with premium formats such as IMAX, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema potentially elevating the film's opening-day gross. Early performances of Toxic have been robust compared to other major releases. Bollywood Hungama's tracking, referenced in trade reports, reveals the film sold about 60,000 tickets in the top national theaters on its debut day, outpacing Animal's 52,500 tickets sold in the same period.

Moreover, Toxic's first 6 hours outpaced the figures for Animal, Dhurandhar, Tiger 3, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a testament to its strong opening. This impressive data is particularly noteworthy considering that Toxic carries an A certificate in India, limiting its theatrical admission to audiences aged 18 and above. The film features Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.

At a pre-release event in Chennai, Mohandas shared insights into her journey in the film industry, recalling her father's counsel that she would not become just any baker, but the best in town. This advice, she said, stayed with her, instilling a focus on her goals and inspiring others to believe in her potential. With advance bookings nearing Rs 50 crore and the film slated to premiere worldwide on August 26, the focus now shifts to whether Toxic can convert its stellar pre-release momentum into a blockbuster opening.
