Wife of active-duty Army sergeant is deported to Honduras under Trump’s immigration crackdown

Cristy Maryori Villafranca-Trejo, wife of an active-duty Army sergeant, was deported to Honduras on Monday. Her husband, Army Sgt. Hedar Leonel Turcios Juarez, said he has been struggling to manage military duties since her detention. This is the seventh instance of a military family member being deported under President Trump's immigration crackdown.

Over 50 cases have been identified where immediate family members of U.S. troops faced deportation. Villafranca-Trejo, who entered the U.S. in 2016 and became a U.S. citizen in 2024, was issued a final order of removal in 2017. Her husband expressed concerns about fulfilling his military responsibilities while caring for their 6-year-old daughter.
