Why Empty Gas Stations & Burned Refineries Stop War? — Interview with Christoph Müller

Host Henry Keen welcomed renowned German journalist Christoph Müller, the creator of the @Talk4Ukraine project, onto the Kyiv studio for an analysis of the main geopolitical paradoxes of the week. As Russia's "special military operation" entered its 1,641st day, over half of Russia's 7,000 gas stations had no fuel, while Washington debated troop numbers in Europe and European countries argued over financial contributions.

Müller, a former German refugee from East Germany and a cartoonist, discussed the mental divide within Germany and the skepticism many hold towards the Ukrainian war effort. He claimed that Eastern Germans, influenced by their own history, have an unfavorable view of the Russians, despite the fact that not everyone in East Germany shares this sentiment.

Müller argued that the main obstacle to an end to the war lies in the lack of sufficient political will from Western countries. He cited General Ben Hodges, who stated that military victory depends on logistical support, equipment, and political will. Müller believed that the West's insufficient financial support for Ukraine is the key factor preventing the conflict from ending.
