A political spat unfolded on Tuesday following Congress MP Manish Tewari's warning about India potentially facing a "robot PLA" along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) due to China's rapid technological advancements. Tewari, in an X post, pointed out China's progress in humanoid robotics, stating that Beijing leads the US in 67 of 75 pivotal technologies. Tewari warned that these developments should be a "reality check" for India's preparedness.

Responding swiftly, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra criticized Tewari's remarks, emphasizing that India should focus on combating the "Congress mindset" at the LAC and international borders. Patra argued that Congress leaders were supporting adversaries and spreading negativity. He further alleged that Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, had been present in Chinese tents during the Doklam standoff and accused the opposition of discouraging the Indian Army.

In a pointed reference to Rahul Gandhi, Patra dubbed him the "Chinese robot" whose perspective needed to be challenged democratically. Patra cited a statement allegedly made by Gandhi, where he reportedly said, "mar dala hamare army ko" (we defeated our army), implying a lack of respect for the armed forces. Patra insisted that this mindset must be addressed through democratic means.

The exchange occurred amid growing concerns over China's advancements in robotics, with China's humanoid robots recently garnering international attention for reportedly outpacing Usain Bolt's world record time in a 100-meter sprint. However, these claims have not been independently confirmed. The political dispute has reignited discussions about India-China military readiness, technological rivalry, and the LAC, with both the BJP and Congress engaging in sharp accusations regarding national security and India's stance towards China.
