WATCH: Alabama advances in the Little League World Series

Kinley Rasmus, a standout pitcher from Phenix City Little League, made history at the 2026 Little League World Series. Born into a family of baseball greats, Rasmus has garnered attention for her impressive performance on the mound and at the plate. She is the daughter of former MLB pitcher Cory Rasmus and the niece of former pro outfielder Colby Rasmus.

Rasmus is one of two girls representing Alabama in the tournament, which they're participating in for the first time since 1999. Despite her famous last name, Rasmus has proven herself as one of the best players in the tournament, not just as one of the top female players. Since arriving in Pennsylvania, she has made several notable contributions.

In a game against the East Side All-Stars, Rasmus struck out six batters and turned a double play, while also giving up two hits. She also started her day by turning an extra-base-hit when she hit an RBI double. In another game against California, Rasmus became the first girl in Little League World Series history to hit an extra-base-hit and the fifth girl to have a multi-hit game.

At the plate, Rasmus has shown her offensive capabilities as well. She has gone 1-for-3 and delivered a game-tying RBI single. She has also tied Mo Ne Davis' Little League World Series record for most strikeouts by a girl in a single game with eight strikeouts. With Phenix City's next game against Tacoma on Tuesday, Rasmus has the opportunity to potentially break Davis' total strikeouts record, which stands at 14.
