Veep to address at Africa Mindset Reset forum in Kigali

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang will address the inaugural Africa Mindset Reset Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, today. The two-day event, held at the Kigali Convention Centre from August 25 to 26, aims to discuss leadership, governance, and Africa's development. Organized by the African School of Governance (ASG), the forum is expected to gather around 1,000 leaders, with a significant majority being young and emerging leaders.

Prominent attendees include former South African President Thabo Mbeki and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. The theme, 'From Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism,' seeks to shift focus from political unity to strong institutions, African-led solutions, and practical action. Rwandan President Paul Kagame, one of the forum founders, will join Opoku-Agyemang and former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn for a discussion on transforming African unity into tangible outcomes.

The second day will focus on African leadership and management of natural resources, as well as people-centred development. Discussions will also cover establishing a single African air transport market and an institution to evaluate the creditworthiness of African countries. With young participants making up the majority, the forum provides a platform for a new generation of African leaders to shape the continent's future and encourage greater ownership of the continent's resources, institutions, and destiny.
